Current president of the House, Curi proposes naming it after the writer Dalton Trevisan to the Paraná Public Library (BPP), located in Curitiba. The initiative received the support of another 20 parliamentarians, who signed the matter.

According to the president of the Assembly, the action represents a tribute to one of the main names in the history of literature in Paraná.

“Giving his name to the state’s main library is a fitting tribute to a singular figure in contemporary literature, revered by readers and critics alike,” he said.

“This tribute immortalizes his legacy and reaffirms Paraná’s commitment to valuing culture, literature and the education of new generations of writers and readers,” said Curi, as quoted by the Assembly’s press office.

Dalton Trevisan passed away in December 2024, aged 99, before he could receive the tributes for his centenary, celebrated in 2025.

The Legislative Assembly of Paraná recalls the author's outstanding works, such as the book of short stories The Vampire of Curitiba, from 1965. The publication gave national fame to Trevisan, who maintained a discreet life and used to decline invitations to events and interviews.

The writer won some of the most important awards in Portuguese-language literature, such as the Jabuti Prize (1959) and the Camões Prize (2012).

In parallel with the process in the Assembly, the BPP will carry out a series of actions in 2025 to highlight Trevisan's legacy. The building's façade itself, for example, features a banner alluding to the author's XNUMXth birthday.
