JK Avenue will have new blockage to finish drainage

City Hall hopes to complete the work before classes resume; the closure will begin on Saturday, the 25th. See how the two stages will work.

Avenida JK will once again be blocked to vehicle traffic to complete the drainage work, starting this Saturday, the 25th. The city government says it intends to complete the work before the start of the return to school.

The work is expected to be completed and the road to be fully open to traffic in early February. This will depend on weather conditions, the administration adds.

The JK closure will take place in two stages:

  • first step: will begin this Saturday, with traffic blocked between Rua José de Alencar and the BR-277 viaduct, towards Itaipu;
  • second stage: scheduled to start on Tuesday, 28th, traffic will be interrupted from the intersection with Avenida Carlos Gomes.

“The works will be carried out over an extended period, including on weekends,” the municipal administration promised. “And, during the closure period, access to businesses in the region must be preserved.”

Weekend

On Saturday, drivers should use Paraná Avenue to access the North Region, towards Itaipu. Access to the Friendship Bridge should be via Vila Portes. Due to construction work under the BR-277 viaduct, Nelson da Cunha Júnior Street, which borders BR-277, will also be closed, at the height of Paulo Pontes Street.

On Sunday, the 26th, traffic under the viaduct should be released, according to the city hall. To continue towards Itaipu, drivers can use the detour via Avenida Carlos Gomes, Rua Paulo Pontes and Rua Nelson da Cunha Junior, passing under the viaduct to reach Avenida Tancredo Neves.

Lockdown on Tuesday

On Tuesday, Avenida JK will be blocked after its intersection with Avenida Carlos Gomes.

Bus route

The bus route will be changed due to the interventions on Avenida JK, as follows:

  • Saturday, 25: detour via José Maria de Brito Avenue, Paraná Avenue and Araucária Avenue, returning to the route via Tancredo Neves Avenue;
  • from Sunday, 26th: buses will use the detour via Rua Nelson da Cunha Junior.

    I don't know if it's meanness or incompetence...it could be shamelessness...yesterday there were 3 working, today there was 1...

    I have never seen such a poorly managed project. They don't care about the impact on traffic and businesses in the area.
