Colors and lights inside the stores, decorated streets and avenues: this is the Christmas atmosphere in Foz do Iguaçu. For December shopping, stores have special opening hours.
The recommendation is to take advantage of the free Christmas programming that takes place in the center, especially in Praça da Paz, and in Gramadão da Vila A, for outings that combine leisure and family shopping. Activities are daily.
This year, two iconic avenues in Foz do Iguaçu were decorated and illuminated. Brasil Avenue, one of the city's main shopping centers, has more than 200 illuminated trees.
And the “most beautiful street”, Avenida Pedro Basso, is also decorated and is a popular place to visit. On the street is Santa Claus House, an initiative of the owners that has been attracting locals and tourists for 15 years.
The Christmas spirit also takes over Vila Portes, with promotions and diversity. The same occurs in shopping centers in the city's major regions, such as Avenida República Argentina/Jardim São Paulo, Morumbi, Três Lagoas, Porto Meira and villages A and C.
A Commercial Association (ACIFI) released the opening hours for businesses in Foz do Iguaçu during the month of December:
- general trade: daily, from 8am to 22pm;
- shopping centers and duty-free shops: from 10am to 23pm (except on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve);
- December 24th and 31th: from 8pm to 17am.
December shopping
December has arrived, and the people of Paraná are already in the Christmas spirit, organizing themselves for the traditional gift exchange. According to a survey by the Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism of Paraná (Fecomércio PR), in partnership with Sebrae-PR, six out of ten consumers in the state intend to give gifts this holiday season.
The number could be higher, since around 20% have not yet decided whether they will spend money on gifts. The researchers behind the survey believe that the data reflects optimism in the retail sector. The study indicates that the greatest movement is expected to occur in the week leading up to Christmas, but demand in stores will also be high between eight and 15 days before the holiday season.
