Unioeste/Foz preparatory course students get high marks in ENEM essay

Participants in the popular training, offered free of charge by the public university, scored above 900 points in the essay.

Students from the Preparatory Course at the State University of Western Paraná (Unioeste/Foz) achieved high scores in their essays in the National High School Exam (ENEM 2024). Seventeen of them stood out.

The popular preparatory course has been maintained by the public university since 2005, as an extension project. Its objective is to integrate university and community, contributing to access to higher education.
At 18 years old, Cauã Dier Pujol is among the highlights, obtaining 920 points in writing in ENEM. He is a student at Colégio Estadual Ulysses Guimarães.

“At the preparatory course, I had the opportunity to meet wonderful teachers with unique and extremely efficient teaching methods. I am grateful to have participated and I hope this project continues for future generations,” he celebrated.

Alexia Zahra de Oliveira, 17, also scored 920 points for her essay in her high school exam. She is a student at Jorge Schimmelpfeng State School.

“The depth of the content covered in History classes gave me a critical and broad view of various topics, while the practical guidance in writing classes helped me structure my ideas in a clear and coherent way,” he reported.

The students' success is due to a set of factors focused on learning, assessed the person responsible for the course's writing department, Professor Mariangela Lunardelli. She emphasized the project's dynamism.
“Student monitors from the Literature course come together, preparing themselves for the profession through extension work, and students who persevere in their dream of university,” he analyzed. “Desire, study and lots of writing practice: the result is there,” he concluded.

Above 900 points

Robson Antunes de Oliveira Junior, 17, a student at the 5th Military Police College of Paraná, also endorses the methodology of the Unioeste/Foz preparatory course. His score on the essay was 940 points. “I was able to notice many patterns in the structure of the genre and exemplary texts, all while I was still attending the preparatory course.”

From the Federal Institute of Paraná, with 900 points in the essay, Geovana Santos de Souza mentioned what she learned in the preparatory course. “Especially in the essay, the teacher gave great tips. It was a very rewarding experience”, said the 19-year-old student.

The training grew with the participation of university students from uniwest and the Federal University for Latin American Integration (UNILA) acting as monitors. They teach classes under the guidance of higher education professors.

Recently, there was an expansion in the number of places available, from 120 to 240 students served, due to the partnership between Unioeste and the city government. Classes are taught on campus and in neighborhoods.
