Foz do Iguaçu loses Viviane Jara, president of Sinprefi

Teacher and pedagogue Viviane Jara Benítez, president of the Union of Teachers and Professionals of the Municipal Public Education Network in Foz do Iguaçu (Sinprefi), passed away this Sunday morning (26) at the Municipal Hospital. The wake will take place in Chapel IV of the Municipal Cemetery of Jardim São Paulo, where the body will be buried.

Viviane was 39 years old and had a degree in Pedagogy from the State University of Western Paraná (Unioeste), with a postgraduate degree in Literacy and Early Childhood Education from the Rehma Institute. She worked at the Érico Veríssimo and Jardim Naipi municipal schools before taking on the role of director of union policies at Sinprefi in 2018 and being elected president in 2022.

It is with deep regret that the Union of Teachers and Education Professionals of the Municipal Public Network of Foz do Iguaçu (Sinprefi) publicly announces the death of the union president, teacher Viviane Jara Benitez, 39 years old, at 10:05 am this Sunday (26).

She underwent elective surgery (pre-scheduled) on February 16th at the Foz do Iguaçu Municipal Hospital, but due to complications, a second emergency surgery was necessary, which is why she was still hospitalized. Earlier today, the family was informed about the death, which was reportedly caused by cardiac arrest.

The wake and burial of Professor Viviane Jara Benitez will be held at the Jardim São Paulo cemetery, with times yet to be defined, because the family requested an autopsy of the body to determine the cause of death and details of what occurred during the surgery.

Professor Viviane leaves behind a grieving mother, stepfather, and siblings. Viviane Jara Benitez took over as president of Sinprefi in September 2022, leading the only ticket that had 90,81% approval. She was director of union policies at Sinprefi between 2018 and 2022. She had a degree in Pedagogy from Unioeste and a postgraduate degree in Literacy and Early Childhood Education from Instituto Rehma. She worked at the municipal schools Érico Veríssimo and Jardim Naipi.

As leader of Sinprefi, he was an example of tenacity, persistence and of a professional who gave up his own career in the classroom to defend the rights of his fellow educators: “Only through collective work, through the collective and organized struggle of the union will we move forward and our union is proof of that,” he declared shortly after the election results were announced in September of last year.

Sinprefi deeply regrets the untimely death of president Viviane Jara Benitez and reiterates that it will follow the example of leadership left by her so intensely.

It is with great sadness and immense pain that we received this Sunday (26) the news of the death (natural causes) of teacher VIVIANE JARA BENITEZ, a combative and tireless fighter for the causes of public servants as president of the Union of Teachers and Education Professionals of the Municipal Public Network of Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education of the Municipality of Foz do Iguaçu-SINPREFI.

The SISMUFI board expresses its solidarity with the friends and family of Professor VIVIANE JARA BENITEZ for this irreparable loss and we pray that God may comfort them in this moment of great pain, in which words become small and the spirit seeks support in faith.

VIVIANE represents a symbol of the union struggle, firm and determined for the cause, leaving her legacy and a gap in the union movement.

Viviane has been the head of the Foz do Iguaçu Teachers and Education Professionals Union (SINPREFI) since September last year, when she was elected president. A municipal education employee, with a degree in Pedagogy from Unioeste, she worked at the Érico Veríssimo and Jardim Naipi schools, before taking on the role of director of union policies at SINPREFI, between 2018 and 2022.

With a brilliant career in public education and committed to defending education professionals in the municipal network, Viviane has always masterfully exercised the role of leader and representative of the category.

With deep regret, the Foz Iguaçu City Council regrets the death of employee Viviane Jara Benítez, aged 39, which occurred this Sunday, February 26, at the Padre Germano Lauck Municipal Hospital.

Viviane was a teacher in the municipal education system and has been president of Sinprefi since September 2022. Between 2018 and 2022, she had also been the union's director of union policies.
