“Singer-songwriter” for 30 years, Sergio Copetti released the album in February slit. There are 11 songs that combine different rhythms and musicians from all corners of the world. The tracks are now available on all platforms.

Production officially began during the pandemic. At the time, Copetti and several other artists were unable to find work. “That’s when I got in touch with a friend of mine, a professor at Unila, Daniel, who encouraged me to get started.”

Between one contact and another, each artist and rhythm were added. In total, slit has 44 artists. “I would write, sometimes I would record the arrangements and send them,” he explains. After some waiting, he would receive the new recording and “I was always surprised by the final result, it always came out better than I imagined.”

The entire work took four years to complete, and the result is songs that deal with themes such as environmental preservation, the city and the day-to-day life of the “singer-songwriter”. “I don’t know how to talk well about environmental preservation, but I can sing about it”, he reveals.

Inspiration comes from many sources: the path I took between one city and another, walks in the National Park and the goldfish, which is in danger of extinction. Despite the serious subject, the rhythm of The King of Rio It is more cheerful and, according to Copetti, is a hit with children. “It’s funny to see how there are people from many other places and of all ages who are giving support,” he comments.

Sergio also emphasizes the role of music. “It’s something that lasts, that can be revisited” and serves as a reminder. Some people who participated in the production ended up passing away, and the works became a legacy.

The stage isn’t everything for Copetti. In addition to performing, he has composed for films, documentaries and short films, and teaches music education. “It goes far beyond what the audience sees,” he concludes.
