Foz do Iguaçu, a city of incomparable natural beauty, such as the Iguaçu Falls and the Itaipu Binational Power Plant. It is a welcoming city, with great cultural diversity and a dynamic municipality, celebrating its 110th anniversary with incredible growth potential. In addition to its natural wonders, Foz do Iguaçu stands out as a hub for higher education, contributing to the economic and social development of a warrior and hard-working people.
In recent years, Foz do Iguaçu has become a center of excellence for students, teachers and researchers. The State University of Western Paraná (UNIOESTE) has played a key role in the academic and scientific development of the region, together with other higher education institutions.
UNIOESTE is a pioneer in the city, and this year we celebrate 45 years since the creation of FACISA. Over the years, we have trained many professionals. We currently offer 13 undergraduate courses and a variety of postgraduate courses, including specializations, master's degrees and doctorates, contributing to the strengthening of higher education in Foz do Iguaçu and the region, and, most importantly, training students with the quality and skills to work in various professional areas.
The city is currently filled with pride as it is home to the most prominent state university in Paraná, with a maximum rating granted by the MEC (Ministry of Education). This recognition is the result of joint and harmonious work between the community and the educational institution. Dedicated students, qualified professors and university staff, visionary directors, committed politicians and competent managers have contributed significantly to achieving this remarkable achievement.
At this significant moment, it is essential to express deep gratitude to the founders and supporters who made the creation of the University possible. The municipality demonstrated courage and strategic vision in implementing UNIOESTE, leaving a valuable legacy for future generations. It is practically unimaginable to have a city in Foz do Iguaçu without the presence of the University.
The impact on municipal development, the transformation in the lives of students, their families and companies highlights the importance of UNIOESTE. The recognition and pride expressed by many, when they say “I am a product of UNIOESTE”, are sources of great joy for the university, signaling that we are effectively fulfilling our mission.
In the future, the population can expect to receive excellent higher education from UNIOESTE, with up-to-date courses and a qualified faculty. In addition, the university will promote community outreach programs, such as courses, lectures and workshops, benefiting both local residents and businesses. These actions can boost the city's economic development, generating direct and indirect jobs and fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
UNIOESTE is focused on research and innovation, establishing partnerships with local institutions, schools, companies and government agencies to develop projects and initiatives that meet the needs of the community. These actions aim to improve the quality of life of the population, strengthen local businesses and create better growth opportunities for our students.
Thus, the population of Foz do Iguaçu can expect not only excellence in the academic training of students from UNIOESTE, but also the boost to the social, economic and cultural development of the region, transforming the local community.
