If there’s one thing humanity has never stopped doing, it’s creating myths. From stories of ancient gods and heroes to urban legends on the internet, myths shape the way we understand the world. But what about now, in 2025? Do we still believe in fantastic stories or are today’s myths much more technological and modern? The truth is that myths are still alive, just with a new face. Let’s explore some of the main myths of our era.
Have you ever heard someone say that “AI will take over the world”? Well, that myth is very much alive. By 2025, artificial intelligence will be part of our daily lives, from virtual assistants to algorithms that choose what we see on social media. But are we really on the brink of a robot apocalypse?

The reality is much less dramatic. AIs are powerful, yes, but they still have limitations. They need large amounts of data and humans to train them. Furthermore, they lack consciousness or intuition, essential elements for making complex decisions like humans do. So, before you go out there believing that a supercomputer will replace everyone, remember that AI is a tool and, like any tool, it depends on the person using it.
The cryptocurrency and NFT market has exploded in recent years, creating a new wave of casual investors. The promise? Making money quickly, easily, and effortlessly. Who hasn’t seen an influencer showing how they got rich overnight with Bitcoin or selling a pixelated image for millions? The truth is that, although some people have made money, many have lost. The cryptocurrency market is highly volatile and full of risks. There is no magic formula for getting rich, and betting everything on a trend without studying it can be a quick path to bankruptcy. The myth of instant wealth continues to fool many people, but reality always takes its toll.
Instagram, TikTok and other social media platforms have created a new kind of myth: the myth of the perfect life! Everyone seems to be always happy, traveling to paradisiacal places, eating at the best restaurants and wearing impeccable clothes. But is that really the case? Of course not! What we see on social media is just a well-edited snapshot of reality. Behind the incredible photos, many people face problems such as anxiety, depression and insecurity. The myth of the perfect life can be extremely toxic, creating unrealistic comparisons and an endless search for happiness that no one has all the time.
Another myth that has gained traction in 2025 is that of extreme productivity. The idea that we need to be constantly busy, working on multiple projects and optimizing every minute of the day has become almost an obsession.
But wait! Being productive is important, of course, but resting is also essential. The human brain was not designed to function 100% of the time without breaks. Excessive productivity can lead to burnout, mental exhaustion and even health problems. So, instead of feeling guilty about taking time to relax, remember: balance is key!
If there's one thing that never goes out of style, it's conspiracy theories. In 2025, there will be no shortage of new versions about secret governments, chip implants, and hidden societies controlling everything and everyone. The truth? Most of these theories have no basis in concrete facts and are fueled by misinformation. The internet has made it very easy to spread fake news, and many people end up believing anything without checking reliable sources. It's always good to have a critical eye and look for evidence before sharing crazy theories.
Every year, a new diet emerges that promises to transform anyone into the fitness version of their dreams. In 2025, the trends will continue: ultra-fast diets, “miracle” foods, and pills that supposedly burn fat effortlessly. The problem? The human body doesn’t work that way. Losing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle requires balance, proper nutrition, and consistent exercise. Extreme diets may even bring quick results, but they are usually not sustainable and can be harmful to your health. The myth of the perfect body continues to fool many people, but the reality is that each body is unique and needs personalized care.
With the advancement of the metaverse and virtual reality, many people have begun to believe that soon no one will want to leave their homes. Will we already be living in a digital world by 2025, just like in science fiction movies? Not exactly. Virtual reality technology has advanced a lot, but the physical world still has an irreplaceable appeal. Touch, smell, and face-to-face interaction cannot be completely replicated digitally. Furthermore, spending too much time in the virtual world can cause fatigue and emotional disconnection. Technology may be amazing, but we shouldn't abandon reality because of it.
Myths are not dead, they just changed form. If before we believed in mythological gods and fantastic creatures, today our myths involve technology, money, social networks and productivity. The big question is: how do we identify what is myth and what is truth?
The secret lies in critical thinking. Before believing in anything, question, research, and investigate. The world of 2025 is full of tempting promises and well-constructed illusions, but those who know how to filter reality from myths come out ahead. After all, the greatest skill of the XNUMXst century is not blindly believing in everything, but knowing how to separate fact from fiction. So, what myths have you believed in?
