The protest, which was organized by the Chamber of Land Transport and had the support of local authorities, such as Mayor Claudio Filippa, it took place in the morning, starting from the roundabout to access Puerto Iguazú, on National Highway 12, and arriving at Marco das Três Fronteiras.

In a speech to drivers, partially reproduced by the portal The Voice of the Falls, Filippa stated that “we are going to go out and hunt down those who use the application”, classified as pirated, “because it takes advantage of people and exploits them, reducing rates to destroy competition, and, once the objective has been achieved, increasing rates again”.

“This app causes a lot of harm to workers. You [registered taxi drivers and drivers] are always complying with your obligations. We, the city government, have the obligation to monitor you and we will continue to be this control body. We will protect transportation workers,” said the mayor of Puerto Iguazú.

The legislation that regulates the provision of passenger transport services in the Argentine border city establishes obligations such as inspections, insurance, licenses and municipal fees. In the opinion of taxi drivers, apps like Uber would not meet the required requirements.

The mayor administers the municipality. Uber in Brazil has a federal law on urban mobility and is permitted. This mayor must certainly have about 40 taxi cars in his name.

To see how the left messes everything up, in 2023 in Argentina the discussion about taxis vs. Uber is just beginning and using the old narrative that it is not good for people... Argentina has not left 2015...

  3. Luiz Fabiano

Uber is the most sought after by tourists coming to Argentina, Paraguay and Iguaçu PR. There is space for everyone to work. This puts an end to the abuse of power in urban mobility and the monopoly.

I could create an Uber app to be a politician or judge, it would help people a lot too. I could do my jobs on the side

The future is coming, there is no way to have it. The era of abusive taxi drivers is over.

  6. Junior

The mayor is more corrupt than anything else. The drivers in this city have to tell this mayor to go fuck himself.

  7. Andreia

It's interesting that people from Argentina come to Brazil, bring people to tourist attractions, the airport, the bus station and nobody does anything! Here everything is allowed for everyone, we have to walk with our heads down in neighboring countries!!!

  8. Jonathan

This mayor is a real scoundrel, so much of a rascal that he imposed a municipal tax on the national route for anyone who passes by, I don't know who is more of a scoundrel. That's why Puerto Iguazú isn't growing, while Foz is booming... Long live Perón!! JK.

  9. Will

Argentina's Neanderthals against the evolution of transportation.

The elections are coming... Mayor, the voice of the people is valid, I think... It's hard to believe in the polls.

I agree with the Argentines, I also don't like and don't trust Uber, and I don't advise anyone to use it.
