The episode occurred on Sunday (24) during a journey carried out by the company JetSMART.

Last Sunday (24), passengers on the Santiago (Chile)–Foz do Iguaçu flight, a route operated by the airline JetSMART, experienced tense moments. According to an article published by the AEROIN portal, the aircraft experienced severe turbulence along the route.

One of the passengers, who frequently flies this route, reported that he had never witnessed such strong turbulence. The instability caused his body to float above the seats as the plane (an Airbus A320) flew over the Andes Mountains.

“The plane looked like it was going to crash into the mountains! Many people felt sick. It was scary! It seemed like the plane dropped in altitude very quickly. We were being propelled upwards, but the seatbelt prevented us from being thrown,” the traveler described.

After the aircraft reached its cruising altitude of 37 feet (about 11.300 meters), the captain explained to the passengers that the turbulence was stronger than usual and that it was a clear sky occurrence, that is, when it is not possible to predict it because it is not associated with bad weather.

The commander also stated that the aircraft and crew are prepared to deal with situations like this and that, despite the discomfort, flight safety was never affected. There are no reports of injured passengers or crew.

Sunday's flight (24) was the last operated by JetSMART between Foz do Iguaçu and Santiago in the season, which began on October 31 last year.
