Perimetral Leste exceeds 60% completion in Foz do Iguaçu

The structure of the future viaduct on BR-277, which is moving forward, has 24 tons of steel and 200m³ of concrete.

The Perimetral Leste has reached 61% completion of the work in Foz do Iguaçu. The balance is from the Paraná Highway Department (DER/PR).

This agency of the State Secretariat for Infrastructure and Logistics (SEIL) manages and supervises the services. Progress reports are issued monthly.

In March, the perimeter works were marked by progress on the paving of the new road and construction of the viaduct. This work is on BR-277, at the entrance to the city.

“The new viaduct over BR-277 will allow access from the federal highway to the perimeter highway and vice versa,” explains DER/PR. The structure has the deck slab frame ready and has undergone concreting.

This intervention was carried out in two stages, however, making it necessary to close the marginal roads and the central lane of the highway. The viaduct has:

  • 24 tons of steel, approximately;
  • 200m³ of concrete; and
  • required the use of ten concrete mixers and boom pump trucks.

In addition, the implementation of the new lane is underway between Rodovia das Cataratas and BR-277. To date, approximately 55% of the paving services have been carried out, according to the state agency.

Perimeter in Foz

Road safety device installation services began this month. They include 13 kilometers of metal guardrails and four kilometers of concrete barriers in New Jersey, for example.

“The new customs on the border with Paraguay and Argentina continue to advance,” adds the DER. For example, there are internal services in the central buildings, yards and other buildings, currently.

The Perimetral Leste is the result of a partnership between the state and federal governments with Itaipu Binacional. The project has received an investment of approximately R$83 million to date, according to the state department.

Danger in the works

O DER/PR warns that access to the areas under construction of the new Perimetral Leste of Foz do Iguaçu is restricted to workers and neighboring residents. However, the sections with restricted circulation have provisional signage indicating the restriction, and failure to comply with the guidelines is considered a serious offense. Therefore, according to the Traffic Code, sanctions are provided for.
