It really is an “April Fools”!

When I received my copy of GDia on Tuesday, April 29st, also known as International April Fools' Day, on the cover of the edition, in the second headline, there was an old photo of Francis Ford Coppola visiting the Iguaçu Falls. The filmmaker had apparently visited the place last Saturday, March XNUMXth. One of two things: either it was a prank, or they played around with the date and the newspaper ended up buying into it, something that is not uncommon when several credible outlets publish news like this. The list includes the prestigious Rádio Cultura, which never fails to deliver.

Restlessness

It turns out that for film buffs, Coppola is as famous as the Gods of Olympus. So, when they found out that he was in Foz, the earth shook for the students of the Film School, screenwriters, producers, photographers and cameramen, and it caused a deep discomfort. The director loves to speak to academics of the Seventh Art, and he doesn't turn his nose up at a good wine with friends, and even less so at a good pasta, which, by the way, he prepares like few others. Who wouldn't like a selfie with their idol? Messages asking if he had really been to Foz filled this columnist's inbox. He hadn't.

Explaining the monkey

On Saturday, Coppola posted a photo on Thread with the caption: “There’s a lot of power behind me! A lot of terawatts!” On one occasion, he reportedly confessed to some friends that every time he looks at the photo, he recovers, due to the energy that fueled him when he saw the Iguaçu Falls. The post spread like wildfire, and along the way, some people advanced into the metaphysical, that is, in the excitement, they broke the fundamental nature of reality. Therefore, it is not wrong to say that in his soul, Coppola visited the Falls once again, because he remembered it, and, mentioning it to the world! Without doing injustice, until this text was posted, I was unable to discover who took the photo, whether Alexandre Marchetti, Caio Coronel or Nilton Rolin. I promise to do a touch-up as soon as I know.

Relationship with the city

What many people don't know is that Francis Ford Coppola has a direct relationship with Paraná and, of course, Foz do Iguaçu. And how does that work? He has an illustrious business partner who has become a great friend: Alceu Ântimo Vezozzo Filho, CEO of the Bourbon Hospitality Network, with 24 highly regarded businesses in Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina, as well as the Bourbon Institute, which transforms the lives of more than 2.000 people every day. Among the hotels listed is the “Hidden Garden” in Buenos Aires, an exclusive address purchased by the filmmaker while filming in the capital of Buenos Aires. He declared himself passionate about the house, the garden and the furniture and invited Dr. Alceu to share the responsibility of taking the hotel project forward.

The “Hidden Garden” maintains its cultural, architectural and gastronomic elegance; it is located in the Palermo neighborhood, in the area known as Soho, and is part of Coppola's history, who spent a good deal of time there, between writing the script and then filming “Tetro” in 2009. At least once a year, the director goes to relive his longing for Buenos Aires. The Hidden Garden is Francis' home in Buenos Aires, mainly for relaxing and writing. He has taken friends there such as Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Roberto De Niro and many other celebrities from the screen (Photos).
