
One person died and another is missing after a boat capsized in the waters of Lake Itaipu. According to the Paraguayan Navy, the situation occurred during the storm late Monday afternoon (17).

According to the report, around 18:30 pm, a storm hit the region of Puerto Indio, a Paraguayan town on the shores of Lake Itaipu, opposite Santa Helena.
A boat carrying four people capsized, causing the crew to fall into the water. Two of the occupants managed to call for help and were rescued by the Paraguayan Navy. The other two lost contact with the others.
Of the missing, of Paraguayan nationality, the military located, on the morning of this Tuesday (18), the body of Fernando C. The whereabouts of René U., the fourth crew member, remain unknown.. Update – 19/2: René U.'s body has also been found.
During the same storm, a second boat suffered damage on the lake. The incident occurred near the Tatí Yupí Biological Reserve in Hernandarias. In this case, however, the Paraguayan Navy rescued the four men who were on the boat.
Storm in Paraguay and Brazil
In addition to the incidents involving boats in Paraguay, the storm on Monday afternoon caused damage to the urban perimeter of Foz do Iguaçu.
As reported by H2FOZ, One zinc roofing flew and hit three vehicles on Avenida Morenitas, Porto Meira region. The situation occurred in the vicinity of Parque Remador, where renovation works of the public space are underway.
The phenomenon reached the border from Argentina, advancing in a south-north direction and reaching areas in Brazil and Paraguay.
The Paraguayan Navy does not recommend sailing in adverse weather conditions, due to the risk of lightning, gusts of wind and rough waters.
According to the weather forecast, the weather is expected to remain unstable in the region, at least, until Thursday (20). The highest volumes of rain are forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday (19).
