Chile will begin importing pork from Paraná after recognizing the state as a foot-and-mouth disease-free zone without vaccination. The decision was announced by Chilean Minister Esteban Valenzuela and will be formalized during President Gabriel Boric's visit to Brazil. The measure strengthens agricultural trade between the two countries.
New partnership
For Paraná State Secretary Márcio Nunes, Chile's recognition represents a milestone for the state's swine sector. The new partnership should generate jobs, increase producers' income and open doors for more exports. In 2024, Paraná accounted for 21,5% of the country's swine slaughter.
ExpoFrísia
Visitors to the 18th ExpoFrísia will have access to agribusiness trends at the Digital Agro Arena, an environment that will feature technical lectures and initiatives for communication and innovation. The space will be open to the public on April 24 and 25, at the Frísia Exhibition Pavilion, attached to the Carambeí Historical Park (PR). Admission and parking are free.
Party Switching
Deputy Vermelho officially announced his departure from the PL and affiliation with the PP in a ceremony held in Brasília. The party change occurs with the consent of the PL, without prejudice to his parliamentary mandate. Vermelho stated that the decision aims to align himself with political projects that are more in line with his proposals. The affiliation strengthens the PP's bench in the Chamber of Deputies. The deputy is expected to take on new roles within the party.
Improvements
The population of Iguatu (PR) will receive two new vehicles provided by the State Government through a recommendation from State Deputy Gugu Bueno, who is also the 1st Secretary of the Legislative Assembly of Paraná. The vehicles will be used by the Health and Sports departments, directly contributing to improving the mobility of teams, speeding up care and expanding services in the municipality.
ExpoApras 2025
At the opening of ExpoApras 2025, acting governor Darci Piana (PSD) highlighted the importance of the supermarket sector for Paraná. The fair in Pinhais brings together 450 exhibiting brands and expects more than 60 thousand visitors. Piana highlighted the role of the state as a food supplier for Brazil and the world. The expectation is to generate revenue of over R$ 1 billion during the event. Ceasa Paraná is also participating, promoting meetings between wholesalers and supermarket owners.
Northwest Contour
The tender for the Pato Branco Northwest Bypass was won by a consortium of companies that will be responsible for preparing the project and executing the work, budgeted at R$148,9 million. Lot 2 of the bypass will be 14,34 km long and will include a viaduct at the junction with PRC-158. The project aims to improve the region's infrastructure and logistics. The investment is considered strategic for local development.
Economic Advances
Darci Piana presented Paraná’s economic advances to Argentine authorities. The meeting, held at the Iguaçu Palace, was attended by provincial secretaries, business leaders and diplomats from Argentina. Piana highlighted the record exports and private investments since 2019. Argentina is the third main destination for Paraná’s products, with US$ 1,2 billion exported in 2024. Paraná reinforces its position as a strategic partner in South America.
Citizen Centers
Consortiums submitted proposals for the installation of 20 Citizen Service Centers in 18 municipalities in Paraná. The opening session for the commercial proposals took place this Tuesday (22). The centers will integrate several state public services in a single location. The maximum investment planned is R$950,7 million over five years. The proposals presented indicate a reduction in the total amount to be paid.
Direct Purchase
The Compra Direta Paraná program has already distributed 19 tons of food purchased from family farms. Since 2020, the state government has invested R$130 million in the initiative, which has become a permanent public policy. The products are delivered to entities in the social welfare network, ensuring food security. For 2025, the forecast is to allocate R$70 million for new acquisitions. The program strengthens small producers and combats food insecurity.
Agriculture Month
The Agriculture Committee of the Legislative Assembly approved a bill that creates the “Agricultural Defense Awareness Month”. The proposal aims to promote educational activities and to promote the value of the agricultural sector. The month chosen for the activities will be September, coinciding with the beginning of spring. The bill will now be voted on in plenary. The initiative seeks to strengthen the importance of agriculture for the state.
