Tourism in Paraná
Paraná received more than 584,7 international tourists between January and May 2025, an increase of 26,2% compared to the same period last year. The state remains the fourth largest destination in Brazil. Paraguay and Argentina lead in sending visitors. Most arrive by land, boosting the regional economy.
Plano
Paraná will have an Integrated Goals Plan to combat domestic and family violence against women. The document guides public policies for prevention, protection and accountability, with intersectoral and integrated action. The preliminary version was approved by an interinstitutional committee. The proposal will be presented to society soon.
Taxes
Senator Oriovisto Guimarães (Podemos-PR) criticized, this Tuesday, the governments' recurring stance of facing crises by increasing spending and taxes. According to him, between 1991 and 2025, taxes paid by Brazilians increased by 53%, while public spending increased by 73%. Oriovisto classified the public administration as “irresponsible” and demanded urgent measures.
Example
During a session in the Senate, Oriovisto proposed giving up 100% of parliamentary amendments, party funds and electoral funds as an alternative to the increase in the IOF, announced in May. The senator stated that 25 measures have already been launched to increase revenue and that society can no longer bear this burden. “We have to set an example,” he argued.
Mate herb
State deputy Luciana Rafagnin (PT) presented a bill to recognize the traditional production systems of yerba mate shaded with araucaria as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Paraná. The cultivation, carried out by family farmers, was recognized as a world agricultural heritage by the FAO. The proposal provides for legal and environmental protection, as well as sanctions in case of damage.
Weather forecast
Paraná is expected to face storms this weekend, with heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds, especially in the West, Southwest and Northwest regions. The instability will continue until Sunday, but there will be no sudden drop in temperature. Simepar warns of the risk of localized phenomena and continues to monitor the situation. The second Brazil-Paraguay bridge is in the final stages of access and aims to ease traffic on the Friendship Bridge. Investments in customs areas were also discussed, with emphasis on the Port of Paranaguá and the International Port of Santa Helena, reinforcing Paraná's role in bilateral trade.
Public spaces
The House of Representatives’ Urban Development Committee approved a bill that regulates the adoption of public spaces by individuals, companies and entities. Rapporteur Toninho Wandscheer (PP-PR) stated that it is necessary to provide “legal certainty to this practice, reducing frequent lawsuits”. The proposal provides for maintenance in exchange for publicity. The text will now be sent to the Constitution and Justice Committee.
Fighting crime
Senator Sérgio Moro (União-PR) highlighted advances in the fight against organized crime, such as Bill 3.786/2021, which criminalizes narcocide, and Bill 5.510/2023, authored by him, which limits judicial decisions on duty. He criticized the lack of proposals from the federal government in the area of security. Moro also advocated greater international cooperation against transnational crimes.
