Prof. José Afonso de Oliveira – OPINION
What we generally observe is that, when a medical school starts and operates, this brings about a major transformation in the city with the opening of laboratories, specialized institutes, etc. Foz do Iguaçu is no exception.
Today we have a large and good municipal hospital, which provides care to all citizens of the city, neighboring countries and residents of the region bordering Lake Itaipu. All of this is free of charge, as it is a public and free hospital.
The Foz do Iguaçu healthcare network is made up of healthcare centers spread across several neighborhoods in the city, emergency care units and private and public hospitals.
In addition, we can also consider the excellent service provided by SIATE and SAMU in transportation and emergency care for all our citizens.
It is important to understand that health is absolutely fundamental to the good development of a city. When all its residents have this care, everything contributes to a healthy, highly productive life that generates happiness for everyone without distinction.
Health today is a collective asset that enables the improvement and maintenance of a good quality of life. Whether for our workers, employees, women in charge of households, children, young people, adults and the elderly, in short, we all have health needs that must be met with maximum speed and efficiency.
Until a few years ago, it was common to say that the best hospital in Foz do Iguaçu was the plane that would take patients to better equipped centers with good medical teams. Today, this has fortunately been overcome, and we have a good care structure in the city that meets the necessary demands with the necessary speed for emergencies.
