Silva e Luna announces Secretary of Health in Foz do Iguaçu

The future manager of the department will have to carry out a series of surgeries with the aim of eliminating the current waiting list.


Expected to manage a budget of R$438 million (*) next year, Dr. Fábio de Melo was announced as the future municipal health secretary of Foz do Iguaçu by the elected mayor, Joaquim Silva e Luna (PL). The name was announced on the afternoon of Thursday, the 7th.

Now, there are five nominations for the next administration, starting January 1st. The businessman Jin Bruno Petrycoski will take over the Tourism Secretariat; the civil engineer Thais Escobar and the architect Jose Theodoro Oliveira will go, respectively, to Works and Planning. The curator and cultural producer Dalmont Benites will take over the Cultural Foundation.

When choosing the Health Secretary, Silva e Luna stated that he is aware of what he called “critical problems”, especially citing the waiting lists for elective exams and surgeries. “With Dr. Fábio’s competence and experience, I am certain that we will take decisive steps to ensure faster, more humane and efficient care”, he declared.

The future secretary will have to carry out a series of elective surgeries to eliminate waiting lists and improve access to essential services, the mayor-elect's office reported. And that health will be one of the main issues of his government, committing to offering a quality public service.

Profile

Fábio de Melo chairs the Council of Health Secretaries of Paraná. In public administration, he was the municipal health secretary of the neighboring city of Santa Terezinha de Itaipu for two consecutive terms.

He has a degree in Nursing from the State University of Western Paraná (Unioeste), a PhD in Public Health from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), a Master's in Health Sciences from the State University of Maringá (UEM) and is a specialist in Health Management from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) and in Health Policies from the Sírio-Libanês Institute of Education and Research.

*Forecast of R$ 438.336.606,00 in the LOA (Annual Budget Law), prepared by the current administration and which will be voted on by the City Council.
