In two incidents registered on BR-277 in Santa Terezinha de Itaipu, the Federal Highway Police – PRF seized 305 kilos of marijuana, a car with signs of tampering and a .38 caliber revolver.

The seizures took place on Monday, the 19th, at around 22 pm, and on Tuesday morning, the 20th. During the first approach, on Monday, the police ordered the driver of a Fiat Pulse to stop.

He did not answer, tried to flee, lost control of the steering wheel when entering a gas station at high speed and crashed into the back of a truck that was parked there.

According to police, the driver managed to flee on foot and was not located. However, a 19-year-old passenger was trapped in the vehicle due to the collision.

The police inspected the car and found 184 kilos of marijuana in the trunk. They also found that the vehicle's identification signs had been tampered with, as it had false license plates and was reported stolen in Mogi das Cruzes (SP).

The young man arrested said he would receive R$1 to take the drug to Chapecó (SC).

Tire ripper

In the other incident, on Tuesday, at around 11:20 am, the traffic police ordered a Renault Kwid vehicle to stop. The driver tried to flee and the police had to activate the tire-splitting device.

After driving for 500 meters, the driver abandoned the car and fled on foot. During the search, officers found 199 kilos of marijuana and a .38 caliber revolver in the car.

The prisoners and the drugs were sent to the Federal Police Station in Foz do Iguaçu.
