Use of National Force in Foz do Iguaçu is extended

The purpose is to reinforce actions to combat cross-border crimes in the region of Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina.


The use of the National Force in Foz do Iguaçu has been extended for another 90 days. The decision was published this Friday, the 24th, in the Official Gazette of the Union.

The ordinance is from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security. In effect, the presence of the federal force on the border will be extended until May 2025.

“The measure aims to provide support to the Integrated Border Operations Center (CIOF),” emphasizes the federal administration. “Contributing to the reinforcement of security actions and the fight against cross-border crimes in the region,” it adds.

A ordinance Minister Ricardo Lewandowski's plan also provides for activities in judicial police and technical-scientific police actions to preserve public order in the state.

National Force

“The operation will have logistical support from the local government, which is responsible for providing part of the infrastructure necessary for the work of the National Public Security Force,” explains the ministry.

The contingent of the National Force to be used follows the planning defined by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.
