According to the House's press office, the debate, proposed by councilor Bosco Foz (PL), focused on discussing the allocation of revenue obtained from tourist visits to the Iguaçu Falls.
Diogo Araújo, president of the Foz do Iguaçu Municipal Tourism Council (Comtur), considered that the issue goes beyond the political and legal spheres.
Currently, the government of Paraná and the federal government are involved in a dispute in court over ownership of the area where the Falls are located. “That is why we want to discuss the legal issue and its hidden layers,” argued Araújo, suggesting the creation of a committee.
Participant in the hearing in Foz do Iguaçu, state deputy Luiz Fernando Guerra (União) recalled that the impasse dates back to the purchase of the property.
“In 1919, Paraná legally acquired this area. Even so, for decades, the Union, responsible for the administration of the National Park, did not transfer anything to the state coffers. We want Paraná and Foz do Iguaçu to receive it fairly,” he said.
After all the speakers had spoken, the audience decided to send official letters to the Legislative Assembly and the Government of Paraná.
In the documents, according to the proposer, the Foz do Iguaçu City Council will request the creation of a bill to ensure percentages of revenue transfer to the municipality.
The participants also agreed to create a working group to monitor and follow up on the referrals. To watch the full video of the hearing on the City Council's YouTube channel, click here.

The government, without having invested a single cent in the tourist infrastructure in the PNI, wants to use taxes (as if the current tax burden were not already excessive) to take a bite out of what the private sector has done.
It is worth remembering that the concession was not free and that the company pays large taxes every month.
