Last week, Itaipu Parquetec participated in the Sindepat Summit, held in the city of Campos do Jordão, São Paulo. The event, promoted by the Integrated System of Parks and Tourist Attractions (Sindepat), is considered the largest in the sector in Brazil.

The participation included the announcement of a partnership between Sindepat and the National Observatory of Sustainable Tourism for a study. Located in Foz do Iguaçu, the observatory emerged from a partnership between Parquetec and the Ministry of Tourism.

According to Itaipu Parquetec, the work will focus on ESG (environmental, social and governance) indicators. In this sense, there will be a mapping of the degree of maturity of Brazilian parks and attractions in relation to the ESG pillars.

Yuri Benites, Parquetec's Tourism Director, explains that the research will not produce rankings or comparisons between projects. The plan involves creating a methodology for measuring, providing feedback and disseminating good practices.

“The data and analyses generated will contribute to qualifying the market positioning of the participating attractions”, points out Benites, quoted by the consultancy.

“This is a valuable opportunity for parks to share successful solutions and practices, driving increasingly responsible and innovative tourism,” he highlights.

According to Parquetec, data collection will begin on June 5, Environment Day, with results expected to be released in 2025.

“We are looking to the future of tourism with data and co-responsibility. This partnership with Sindepat is another step towards putting Brazil at the forefront of a more sustainable and intelligent tourism model,” adds Benites.

National Observatory of Sustainable Tourism

Launched in February, the observatory aims to fill the gap in accurate data and standardized methodologies for monitoring tourism impacts in Brazil. Itaipu Parquetec and the Ministry of Tourism act as partners.

The organization's target audience is tourist destinations, city halls and tourism departments, as well as companies and institutions. The observatory's work will also assist in the implementation of the National Tourism Plan, which foresees actions in various sectors until 2027.
