A Adetur Waterfalls and Paths, the entity coordinating the initiative, will receive R$800 in resources for tourism infrastructure actions. The money comes from the Itaipu power plant, in partnership with Caixa Econômica Federal.

Currently, Caminhos do Iguaçu comprises more than 500 kilometers of trails, divided into several themed routes.

For example, there are the Pioneers Route and the Faith Route. In addition, the project includes one of the sections of the Peabiru Trail and the Coluna Prestes Trail. The routes are part of the Brazilian Trail Network and use the methodology recommended by the network.

According to the technical coordinator of Adetur activities, Sara Fernanda de Moraes, the schedule includes the installation of drinking fountains and signs on the Caminhos do Iguaçu routes.

“This resource will further complement the qualification of the routes”, highlights Moraes, mentioning that the investments will also benefit residents.

“We want people to have access to support infrastructure, such as drinking water, accommodation and food, in addition to enjoying the beauty of the region, even in more remote areas where there are no commercial establishments,” he adds.

According to Adetur, Caminhos do Iguaçu is in an advanced stage of structuring, and a large part of the signage will be ready by 2025.

The initiative also contributes to strengthening the local entrepreneurial network, by promoting sustainable tourism and valuing culture and way of life.
