The trail over the Iguaçu River had been closed, late Tuesday morning (10), due to the flooding in the border river, whose flow reached a level six times above normal in the Foz do Iguaçu region.
This Wednesday, with the river receding, technicians from Urbia Cataratas and the park inspected the trail and authorized its use by tourists.
All other points of the Brazilian bank of the Iguaçu River, which did not have restrictions on the movement of people due to the flood, remain open for visits.
At 10 am, the flow rate at the Iguaçu Falls, measured by the Paraná Energy Company (Copel), was 7,5 thousand cubic meters per second (m³/s), five times higher than normal. The trend is for a reduction over the next few hours.
Argentine side of the Falls
On the Argentine side, however, the closure of the Devil's Throat walkway was maintained by the concessionaire Iguazú Argentina and the administration of the Iguazú National Park this Wednesday.
More than a kilometer long, the Argentine trail is more exposed to the fluctuations of the Iguaçu River, closing first and reopening later in flood situations, compared to the Brazilian side.
The Argentine walkway has been closed since Sunday (8), with the prospect of a possible reopening on Thursday (12) or Friday (13), depending on the rate of reduction in flow.
The other two panoramic trails on the Argentine side (Circuito Superior and Circuito Inferior) were not closed at any time and are available for public use.
