The information was released to the press by the administration of the Iguazú National Park and by the concessionaire Iguazú Argentina, which manages the services on the Argentine side of the Falls.
“After the corresponding monitoring of the volume of the Iguaçu River and verification of safety conditions, tomorrow [today], in the first hour, we will carry out the final controls and inspection tasks to release the walkway from 10 am”, informs the administration note.
The safety protocol adopted on the Argentine side of the Falls provides for the analysis of the preventive closure of access to the Devil's Throat, at times when the flow of the Iguaçu River exceeds the mark of six thousand cubic meters per second (m³/s), four times above normal.
The Argentine trail is over a kilometer long over the river and is located in a place that is more exposed to the effects of flooding. The Brazilian walkway, on the other hand, is in a more protected location, which allows the operation to continue for longer.
On Tuesday (10), however, even the trail on the Brazilian side had to be closed, due to the flow six times above the standard reference. The reopening occurred on Wednesday morning (11), with the closure lasting only 23 hours.
All walkways open
This Thursday, all walkways and viewpoints are open to the public at Iguaçu Falls, both on the Brazilian side (Iguaçu National Park) and on the Argentine side (Iguazú National Park).
