If you drive for platforms like Uber, take note of this news from Argentina. The mayor of the border city of Puerto Iguazú, Claudio Filippa, has threatened to arrest drivers who offer rides on the apps.

Uber drivers will be “hunted down” in Puerto Iguazú, says mayor
In statements to the portal The Voice of the Falls, Filippa said that the international company, specifically, does not meet the requirements of municipal legislation.
Since Uber announced its arrival in Puerto Iguazú in 2023, the mayor has been vocal in his support for local taxi drivers.
“The municipality will not allow this platform. We will continue to take care of the workers who comply with all the requirements, who undergo inspections, who pay their fees, insurance, registration and municipal license,” he said.
“Uber does not comply with any of this. If we see any Uber drivers driving around, we will arrest them to defend the workers who do things as they should,” he threatened.
According to The Voice of the Falls, the new dispute occurs after the announcement that the Uber Taxi platform will offer trips in Iguazú.
As an incentive to recruit taxi drivers, the company announced that it will pay cash rewards to those who complete 60 trips by June 15, 2025.
On social media, the statements made by the mayor of Puerto Iguazú had a negative impact among residents and users of the Uber platform, as well as tourists.
In the news post itself (click here to access the content), a reader asked: “And under what criminal code will they arrest these workers?” Others simply suggested that the city hall increase the amount of the fines.
That's why Puerto Iguazú never grows
Unfortunately, this is disappointing news, against the citizens and tourism. Ask the population what they prefer!
This is a bastard who will lose his mind when this happens...just like many idiots from Foz do Iguaçu who lost their minds. So the people had the chance to choose.
