The campaign around the Safety Guide for Visitors to Foz do Iguaçu and the Region aims to guide tourists so that their stay in the Three Borders is full and satisfactory. The initiative by public and private institutions has entered a new phase, expanding partnerships and adding strategies and materials.
The mobilization is being carried out by the Economic and Social Development Council (Codefoz), through the Public Security Technical Chamber (CT). One of the main contents continues to be the online guide, which is being shared on social media, available at: destination.foz.br/dicas-de-seguranca-em-foz-do-iguacu/#dicas.
Strengthening the tourist safety campaign includes:
- more than 15 thousand printed guides – totaling 45 thousand – in Portuguese, Spanish and English.
- four billboards in strategic spaces in Foz do Iguaçu, in the tourist corridor;
- 5 thousand stickers placed, for example, on 500 taxis that circulate in the municipality, and on other means of transport.
- 20 large banners displayed in tourist areas, with safety instructions in three languages and a QR code that leads to the online guide.
According to Codefoz, the guide is being distributed at attractions, hotels, restaurants, shops, airports, bus stations and customs offices on international bridges, and through tourism service providers. The billboards emphasize that professional guides do not approach tourists on public roads and that clandestine services should be refused.
Ten guidelines
The Visitor Safety Guide contains ten of the most important guidelines to be observed when shopping and visiting, and provides useful telephone numbers, such as Teletur 0800 045 1516, and an immigration FAQ. The QR code leads to the online content, which includes legislation relevant to tourism activities at the border and important links.
“This campaign is a great union between all segments of our city, private sector, public authorities, councils and attractions in favor of the postcard that is Foz do Iguaçu and the trinational region”, emphasizes the president of Codefoz, Fernando Castro Alves. “The initiative is open to new members, and the material can have its circulation expanded with new support”, he explains.
Security CT Coordinator Fabiano Bordignon, who is a Federal Police officer, recalled that the guide was inspired by an action by the Military Police of Foz do Iguaçu. “The idea grew, adding more and more partnerships, and now it is on the networks, on the streets and, most importantly, in all the places that tourists go”, he celebrates.
Trinational destiny
At the launch of the new phase of the campaign, the Municipal Tourism Council (Comtur) was represented by Professor Mauro Bandeira, who emphasized the importance of working together. “The guide contributes to a better experience for visitors. It is a pleasure for our councilors to see that the idea has gone from theory to reality,” he said.
The security manager at Cataratas JL Shopping, Ademir Gonzalez de Moraes, highlighted the scope of the campaign, which includes both commerce and tourism. “It is a very important action, especially in the sector in which I work, shopping centers, which is leisure and services, where tourists need to be well received and have the quality of security preserved,” he said.
Security Guide
The tourism safety campaign was launched in November 2023 by Codefoz, in partnership with the City of Foz do Iguaçu, the Municipal Secretariat of Tourism and Strategic Projects, Itaipu Binacional and the Municipal Tourism Council. The action was focused on digital content.
In January of this year, the Brazilian Hotel Industry Association (ABIH) – Western Region joined the campaign, printing and distributing 30 booklets in the hotel industry. With the expansion of the campaign, in this new phase, all printed material was paid for by the Iguaçu Fund, and the billboards were paid for by the Chamber of Commerce and Services of Ciudad del Este.
Any institution, company or attraction interested in participating can join the campaign at any time.
