According to Aerolíneas, passengers of both airlines will be able to connect their flights using a single ticket. The measure facilitates and speeds up processes such as checking in baggage at the origin and making stopovers until the final destination.
Aerolíneas Argentinas is currently the leading airline in Argentina. In Puerto Iguazú, for example, the company operates most of its flights to Buenos Aires (Aeroparque and Ezeiza) and the country's main regional capitals.
Iberia operates as Spain's national airline, with its main bases at the international airports of Madrid and Barcelona.
Technically called a “commercial agreement” interline”, the partnership allows a customer in Spain to purchase all the sections at once when purchasing a ticket to Argentina (and vice versa), flying with Iberia and Aerolíneas Argentinas.
In Puerto Iguazú, the news generated positive expectations, as Spaniards are among the most frequent European travelers in local tourism.
In addition to Aerolíneas Argentinas, the Argentine border airport has flights from JetSmart and FlyBondi.
