According to a note released by the concessionaire, December promises to be a busy month, with more than 180 travelers expected to use the terminal. More specifically, between December 20 and 31, the airport expects to receive around 70 travelers. In addition to regular flights connecting the main destinations in Brazil, the airport will also have extra flights to Maceió (AL) and Recife (PE), reinforcing the connection with popular tourist regions.
Wander Melo Jr., manager of Foz do Iguaçu Airport, highlighted the progress made since CCR took over management of the terminal. “We spared no effort to have a historic year at IGU. We were able to achieve these numbers even in a year of construction that changed the entire terminal. In this way, we were able to serve thousands of travelers, who got to know the beauty of Foz do Iguaçu from our airport,” he said.
As of Thursday afternoon (19), ANAC's Demand and Supply Report panel presented information on the flow from January to October. During this period, 1,6 million passengers embarked or disembarked at the terminal.
Regional and national performance of Foz Airport
Although passenger flow has been growing for the fourth consecutive year, the numbers have not yet reached those recorded in 2019, the last year before the pandemic. In that year, Foz do Iguaçu International Airport received around 2,3 million travelers, a volume approximately 7% higher than the estimate for 2024.
In the regional context, Foz do Iguaçu International Airport occupied, in 2023, the fifth position among the busiest terminals in the South of Brazil, behind Porto Alegre (9th in the national ranking), Curitiba – Afonso Pena Airport (12th), Florianópolis (13th) and Navegantes (21st). In the national scenario, the airport reached the 23rd position among the busiest in Brazil.
