In addition to providing quick access to the Northeast for people from Paraná, Paraguay and Argentina, the connection with Recife opens up the region to tourists from Pernambuco.
Historically, Foz do Iguaçu has been home to a large number of migrants from Pernambuco and neighboring states such as Paraíba, Bahia and Alagoas. Most of them arrived in the city during the cycle of major construction projects, such as the Itaipu hydroelectric plant.
Recife and the Northeast are increasingly among the tourist destinations chosen by Brazilians, Paraguayans and Argentines living in the trinational region.
Currently, Recife, Salvador and Natal are among the most popular cities for travel agencies in Foz do Iguaçu.
