Rap to Measure is a project carried out by musicians and educators Renan Inquiry e Black Pop aimed at adolescents who are serving socio-educational measures in CREAS (Specialized Social Assistance Reference Center) units. The work with young people includes an immersion in Hip Hop culture and literature, highlighting the power of the spoken, sung and declaimed word.
Giving a new dimension to the idea of compliance, teenagers have the opportunity to put themselves in the role of creators and producers, writing verses and lyrics based on their own experiences. All this content is transformed into music and then into video, placing them as protagonists of the entire process.
The Rap na Medida project was carried out during the years 2021 and 2022 at CREAS II in the municipality of Foz do Iguaçu (PR) and resulted in the production of eight songs, which were recorded in an improvised studio and now become the album Rap to Measure, released on all streaming platforms and in music videos available on YouTube. The project also produced the mini-documentary “Poesia da Medida”, which features testimonials and behind-the-scenes footage of the meetings. The Rap na Medida process, in addition to the experiences, songs and music videos, also generated the book Poetry in Measure, produced by teenagers.
The album Rap to Measure will have a launch show in Foz do Iguaçu on Monday, November 21, during the activities of the 17th Foz do Iguaçu International Book Fair, held from November 17 to 24 at Clube Gresfi. On the occasion, the songs produced during the project with the participation of the teenagers will be presented.
