There are many paths that allow us to understand and think about time. In a dominant way, the linear one presents a self-interested beginning, which erases and disdains the accumulation of other stories and experiences that claim territories.
This reflection is necessary when we stop to think about the place of diversity in the city of Foz do Iguaçu. Is this city a place of diversity? What place does diversity occupy in public policies?
Of the paths that address the struggles, it is worth highlighting that, no different from what constitutes the nations of the trinational meeting region, Foz do Iguaçu is still the city of inequalities. The place of diversity is crossed by immense asymmetries, truncated paths and margins that demand reparations.
From this place, we strive to promote diversity as a way of fostering citizenship, fundamentally through public policies, inclusive, quality public education, health, housing, work and income.
Citizenship requires a good life that includes silenced stories, survivors of an untold time, but which constitute this great mouth of water with many little distributed riches.
In this commemorative Foz we recognize achievements, such as the creation of the Council for the Promotion of Racial Equality, but we emphasize that there is still much to be built and repaired.
From this place, we are trying to write our diverse stories, of those who were removed, silenced, but also of cultural knowledge and values that demand rights and the maintenance of their experiences, as a prerogative of the future.
The Municipal Council for the Promotion of Racial Equality was created through Municipal Law No. 4.727/2019, with the aim of promoting racial equality and developing consistent and effective promotion policies to guarantee equality and respect for diversity.
